Abstract
The issue of minority protection is very important in EU enlargement. However, the EU law in this field not exist and the EU practice is not comprehensive, even the issue has been given high rang. The author examines how the EU enlargement in Western Balkan Region raise the issue of double enlargement standards, since the conditionality of EU enlargement for the protection of minorities which have kin state within the EU is not the same with the conditionality for the protection of minorities within the states who are candidates. Special attention in this analysis is given to the future of bilateral treaties for the protection of national minorities which are concluded among WB countries.
